Taste of 'Nawlins by Chef Peter
Murray's New Orleans is a newly opened seafood restaurant located at the Fountain Court of SM Lanang Premier. This new food place offers a unique menu to all Dabawenyos and Dabawenyas. At the same time, New Orleans has also prepared new flavors that are made available only for Davao city. Aside from the sumptuous dishes, cocktails and drinks are also served at Murray's New Orleans. In fact, there is a promo that runs every Tuesday for customers who do not only want to dine but also drink and chill at the bar (Cocktails and local beers are 50% off + selected bottles are Buy 1, Take 1).
Marking the first of what hopes to be many successful ventures in other regions, New Orleans is taking Davao by storm, as its first branch outside of Manila, giving the people of Davao a taste of the authentic Cajun food, imported beers and expertly mixed cocktails that feature their own lovely fruits.
In an exclusive night with the members of the press and VIPs, Murray's New Orleans organized an event called New Orleans Degustation Tasting Menu. A Taste of 'Nawlins was prepared and executed by Manila's well-known Chef Peter Ayson together with other chefs and kitchen staff from the city. I was one of the attendees of the said event. Allow me to share what Chef Peter served everyone on the special night.
Country Corn Bread
This bread is perfectly baked with its right level of sweetness. One can never go wrong with New Orleans own taste of Corn Bread.
Bourbon Chicken Liver Pate
Pate is not something that I get to eat regularly because of the fact that it doesn't belong to the list of my favorite foods. When I tasted the Bourbon Chicken Liver Pate with caramelized onions and candied apples, I said to myself that it is something different. I must say, Chef Peter did a good job in preparing this dish.
Grilled Burnt Butter Oysters
Samal Island Ceviche
This is New Orlean's version of Pinoy's Kinilaw. What's amazing about this dish is that Chef Peter did not add any vinegar on it. He has his own way of preparing the food which wow-ed everyone on the table.
There is a generous serving of dressing on this salad. Plus, all the vegetables prepared were fresh. This is the right food to order for someone who want to have a very light meal.
What I love about this Gumbo dish is its unique flavor. If asked to give a rating, I will surely provide five stars. With its spicy taste, customers will surely want to order for more.
Bacon Wrapped Shrimp
Can you imagine your favorite shrimps wrapped with thin slices of bacon? This dish is heaven. I can't find the right words to describe this food. All I know is that this dish is a must-order especially with country style grits.
Blackened Ribeye Steak
I'm a certified steak-lover! When this dish was served, I was like "Oh my gosh." The Blue Cheese Ettouffee made the steak delightful. The mashed potato also added a different twist on the food.
Old style Shrimp and Sausage Jambalaya
Oh well, what do you expect with Chef Peter's Jambalaya? Of course, it is fit for a king. With the combination of shrimps, sausages, rice, chili and other secret ingredients, one will surely enjoy this meal.
Hazelnut and Fruit Compote Beignets
The best way to end the night is indulging into the sweetness of Chef Peter's special dessert with Coffee Martini Espresso Shots.

In the culminating activity, Murray's New Orleans announced that they will be bringing new flavors and dishes in Davao city earlier next year. Chef Peter will be working on a special project that will surely make every Dabawenyo and Dabawenya perfectly satisfied. The staff will be bringing the best of flavors of Davao with the New Orleans twist.
