Kudos to New Foodie Site

Ei, it is nice to greet the foodies in this new chic blog. Indeed, food is chic. Gone were the days when girls were too finesse in eating. Ladies, nowadays, eat like there is no next meal. That is cool. That is hip. Anyway, with us Asians, to worry over weight gain is not necessary given that before we put on pounds, we should have at least devoured the entire rice cooker including its lid. It is  Asian art to have a good physique, right?

Filipinas are few of the blessed who can eat fries in a week with mayo as a dip without even fats accumulating in our body or if it happens, in just a few dance moves, we sure to shed them out. However, we do not notice this at all that we feel heavy with foods such as that. Nothing is still wrong with sticking to healthy food. If there are few people on earth who barely see the negative effect of junks in our physical appearance, it is us then. But then, we do not know what exactly happens to our physical health inside our body. So might as well, stick to veggies and fruits and the usual beauty tip of gulping on lots of water. We feel light. We feel healthy. And just for a few attempts with this, it becomes our food habit. Vanity is not complete without eating healthy, anyway. It is not good to treat in beauty what is just visible to the eyes when anytime our unhealthy cells will appear outwardly anytime.

Anyway, great to check on some foodie sites like this to stimulate our appetite in times we are losing it. It happens all the time to most of us. Our mind gets pre-occupied to something more important than eating when in fact, nothing should be more important than taking care of oneself. Kudos to lovely site which appears not to impress but features food that we can grab just somewhere in the nook!

How to Build A Website

If you are interested into building a new site, then there are three easy steps that you need to follow. Make sure that you are able to complete these processes in order to come up with a wonderful site. However, before doing these steps, there is a need to identify first the primary reason why you want to make a website. Once you are able to determine a specific cause, executing the three steps will become more interesting and fun on your part.

Here are the top three things that you must never forget when it comes to building a new blog or site.

Chickies and Patties

I know eating Fried Chicken all the time is not good but how can I stop myself when Chickies and Patties offer affordable and delicious chicken meals? For only P82, one can already order for their 2 pc chicken meal with one rice.

Since it is the only place that is near my school, I and Abdel always choose to have our lunch and early dinner at the place. Going to the malls and other restaurants will cost us much time which is why we always stick to Chickies. It is a good thing because we get to save some bucks and enjoy a budget-friendly date. Sometimes, the best dates do not happen on classy restaurants.
Chickies and Patties keep the prices for their meals really affordable without compromising the tastes they serve to their customers. It is no wonder why students prefer going to the said restaurant as it will allow them to save more money. To contact Chickies and Patties, you can call their main branch at 227-3413.

Jollibee Breakfast Meals Delivery

Waking up at the wrong side of the bed is one of the things that we wish we do not experience. However, there are times when we can't help it ruin our mornings. No matter how much we try to avoid it, it just comes naturally. In times like this, the first thing that we must do is to get some great breakfast and jump start our day with a smile. We must try harder to remove the negative energies and enjoy sumptuous meals.

Thank you to Jollibee delivery for making my morning with Abdel perfect. Honestly, I wasn't in a good mood on the morning of his birthday. I wanted to do something and we ended up not agreeing about it which has caused my mood swings. Since I do not want to ruin his special day, I took some initiative to order for our breakfast meals instead of continue our petty fight. I called Jollibee Bonifacio and ordered for his all-time favorite Beef Tapa meals and my ordinary Beef Steak.

Once again, I received a quick and fast delivery from Jollibee. It took them less than 20 minutes to send us the foods I ordered from them. And the best thing of all, I was able to change the mood between me and Abdel. We stopped the argument and shared a great breakfast together. After our meals, we indulged into the sweetness of our fave Peach Mango Pie!

Featured in Food Friday and A New Theme

I never thought that having a food blog would be fun. It's good to meet new people in the blogosphere who want to share their food trips and adventures to everyone. I love it everytime I join memes and discover food bloggers who are passionate in writing their entries. In fact, I envy some of them for having high quality food images that make their articles more lively and interesting.

Last month, I finally had the guts to create my own food blog. At first, I thought that this new online page will be stale knowing that I will not have something to post in it. However, I was wrong. Foods, restaurants, trips - these are the topics that one will never run out of anything to say. With this being said, it is no wonder why there are many bloggers who have chosen to own food niche sites.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Maiylah of Food Friday for featuring my entry on her blog. I was selected by the InLinkz random generator. And for that, I'm really grateful!

The Coffee Chic and Chic Foodie are the two blogs that I am currently updating regularly. My other sites are only checked and updated whenever I feel like doing so. Since I have gained great interest for food blogging, I kept on changing my layout. The first one was made two weeks ago and the second (and most probably the last) was this afternoon. Goodbye to my old theme...

Hello to my new blogger theme! Thank you so much Jill for this!

How about you? What motivates you to blog for Food?

Anyway, before I end this post, can I ask a suggestion? Should I keep the sizes of my images X-Large or Large? Thank you so much.

Dimsum Diner Delivery

Finding a restaurant that can deliver food orders at wee hours of the night is a difficult thing to do. Most of the food places do not offer a 24-hour delivery especially that it will cost them too much hassles and higher expenses. I hate calling restaurants late at night only to find out that they are no longer accepting food deliveries. So, imagine my delight when I came across Dimsum Diner's contact number over the internet and learned that they are willing to send my order even it it's already 11 PM.

Thank you to the guys from Dimsum Diner - Guerero Davao branch for the great service and instant delivery. They were able to send our foods in less than thirty minutes. They even charge us only for the fare that the delivery boy would incur. Since my friend and I were highly satisfied, we gave a good tip together with our bill.

Below are the foods we ordered from Dimsum Diner.

House Specialties: Chicken Siomai
Must Try: Sweet and Sour Fish Fillet

Oishi Manju

Whenever this special person goes to the mall without me, he always make sure that I receive something from him as a pasalubong the moment we see each other. There are times when I would ask him to get me my favorite food especially when I'm exhausted at school. But most of the time, I simply wait what he does to avoid being labeled as a 'demanding girlfriend'.

Last week, I got a box of Oishi Manju from him. He brought it at GMall because he knows exactly how much I enjoy eating the freshly baked Korean cakes. At the same time, he is also aware that it has been months since I last had a bite of my fave sweets.

These mini-cakes are really delicious! And I have to agree with Abdel that Oishi Manju is perfect for pasalubongs as it is easy to buy and really affordable.
  • Snack Pack (4 pcs)  -  Php 15.00
  • Paper Pack (8 pcs)  -  Php 28.00
  • Small Box (15 pcs)  -  Php 53.00
  • Big Box (24 pcs)  -  Php 84.00

The delectable freshly baked Korean cakes are available in SM City and Gaisano Mall of Davao.

McDonald's - Discounts to Treasure

One of the things I love about McDonald's is the fact that they never stop offering coupons to their clients and customers. It has become a regular marketing strategy for this fast food chain to provide discounts and promos to their valued consumers. They allow price cuts for the top selling foods that  they serve.

Just recently, McDo Philippines released its "Lucky ang Pao: Discounts to Treasure." They're giving it for free to encourage more Filipinos to visit their store locations especially for the upcoming Chinese New Year. This is the management's way of greeting everyone Kung Hei Fat Choi. Below are some of the coupons I received earlier this day:

"Discounts to Treasure" are valid for Dine In, Drive Thru, McDelivery and Take-Out. It is also valid with a purchase with any value meal except for the Php 50 McSavers Meals. Take note: Only one coupon can be used per transaction and it is not valid for any other offer. Promo runs until February 29, 2012.

Weegol's Restaurant

When I was a little younger, one of the cities that my family always visit is Butuan. Since it is only a four hour drive away from our province, it became easy for us to go the place and visit my mother's brother and his family. The city wasn't really great as it is today. However, there were already some famous restaurants serving delectable menus for interested diners.

I can still remember the times when I would go out with my loved ones and dine at my tito's favorite place - Weegols Restaurant. He always choose the Montilla branch of Weegols everytime we go on a date with our family. Up to this moment, he has never grown tired of visiting Weegols Restaurant regularly. He still brings us to the place where we can share great meals together.

With that being said, it is no wonder that we have dined again at Weegols Restaurant. We only had these..

Chicken Barbeque, One and A Half Rice, Atsara, Banana Cake
A closer look.
The famous Banana cake.
It has been two years since I last visited the place which is the reason why I was amazed with how everything in the area improved. Weegols became more attractive and lovelier. Now, I can fully understand why tito prefers going to the place. Aside from the inviting ambiance, the restaurant also serves truly-satisfying foods. Oh, did I mention that the meals they serve are highly affordable?

New Layout for the Foodie Blog!

The reason behind the creation of this new blog is for me to share all my food trips and adventures to the blogosphere. I want to let everyone know how much I enjoy going out with my boyfriend who is also a foodie like me. At the same time, I also want to share how I love to bake and cook.

Since this page was created last December, there are only few posts and contents. I'm still working on improving Chic Food Trips to make it presentable for everyone. The first step I have taken was changing its layout.

From this...

To this...

I have also changed the old badge..

I like my Sweet Cupcake theme. It is simpler and more pleasing to my eyes. How about you? What do you think with my new layout? Is it better than the first?

Ice Giants

One of the best places to visit for food trips in Davao is Ice Giants. There are three branches of Ice Giants located in the downtown area of the city. The first branch is at Damosa, the second one is at Sta. Ana Avenue and the third place is at Quimpo Boulevard. The place is perfect for families and friends who want to hang out as they enjoy the sweetness of desserts!

The last time I visited Ice Giants was last month when I went out for a girl bonding date with mom. After a long day of shopping, we went to the place and ordered for the Mango Giants, Strawberry Giants and hamburgers.

Here's a closer look to the ice cold concoctions!

To learn more about the foods and services offered by Ice Giants, you can check their FB page.

Bake and Churn Ice Cream

My first entry for food memes was posted on my main blog, The Coffee Chic. At the same time, I shared the post under the meme Thursday Brownies where my post was featured on my first attempt to join.

The picture below is one of the images attached on the said post. It was taken at SM City of Davao on one of my dates with a good friend of mine. After seeing one of the movies in the cinema, we decided to stroll around the mall and see the places where we could have our merienda. We passed by Bake and Churn where we have seen all the baked ice creams and ice cream cakes. Since we love those ice cold sweets, we decided to stop by and buy some scoops. I had chocolate brownies while he opted for the butterscotch vanilla.

Do you also enjoy indulging into the goodness of ice creams?

Mango Float

There are many ways on how we could celebrate the New Year. Some prefer spending time with their families at home while others choose to go on a countdown party with their friends. For me, I chose to stay at my place and welcome 2012 with my mom and younger brother. Before the first minute of 1-1-12 strikes, I was busy preparing for the meals and desserts.

One of the foods I prepared was the Mango Float. Yes, I admit I'm not good in presentation but I think I'm going there. LOL I'm really glad that everyone in the family enjoyed the dessert I made for them.

The ingredients I used for this are:
  • 2 Bag of Ace Biscuits (Instead of the commonly used Grahams Crackers)
  • 2 Nestle Cream
  • 1 Can Condensed Milk
  • 6 Ripe Mangoes

The procedures to be followed in making a Mango Float are very easy. Even a seven year old kid could prepare it.
  1. Prepare all the needed ingredients and materials.
  2. Combine 2 boxes of Nestle Cream and 1 can condensed milk in a mixing bowl. Set aside.
  3. Peel of the mangoes. Set aside.
  4. Start making the mango float by placing the ingredients in a glass ware. Follow this order: biscuits, mango, mixture and repeat until you're done.
  5. Freeze
