Celebrating Chinese New Year at Lotus Court

Gong Xi Fa Cai! It is that time of the year again when we celebrate the Chinese New Year with our friends from the Chinese Community. Last February 7, 2016, Marco Polo Davao ushered in the Year of the Fire Monkey at the Lotus Court with  the  presence  of  its  regular  dining  guests  from  the  Filipino-Chinese Community, the hotel’s heads-of- department, media and associates.

Edward Duy and family with Marco Polo Davao Marcom Manager, Josef Ledesma.

“This Chinese New Year Celebration holds a lot of meaning for Marco Polo Davao, as we are also celebrating our 18th year of existence as the first and only premier hotel in  Mindanao. We  are  also  very pleased  to  see  our  beloved  friends and  guests  from the Fil-Chinese Community here in the city, as they have long supported Lotus Court from the very beginning” says GM Dottie V. Würgler-Cronin.

Lotus Court also showcased the following:

  • Special Chinese New Year Buffet at PhP 1,300 net per  person  for  adults  and
  • PhP  650  net for  children  12  years  old  and  below.

The culinary  highlights  were  the  sought  after Roast  Peking  Duck,  steamed  pompano, premium seafoods and Chinese Sweet Cake or Tikoy.

The  event  was  kicked-off  with  the  traditional Dotting  of  the  Dragon’s  Eye  at  the hotel’s entrance,  led  by GM  Dottie  V.  Würgler-Cronin.  Students  from Colegio  de San  Ignacio  also entertained  the  guests  with  a  Chinese  Cultural  Performance  at Lotus Court.  The   most anticipated Lion   Dance,   performed   by   the Davao   Lion   Dancers Association,  also  served  as one  of  the  evening’s  main  highlights  as  it  entertained the guests in true Chinese fashion as they danced their way through the key areas of the hotel.

The Chinese New Year Celebration is also widely celebrated by Marco Polo Hotels in all its 14 properties in China, Hong Kong and the Philippines.
